Hairdressing Pre-Apprenticeship Evening Course

Thinking of doing a hairdressing apprenticeship ? This course comes at an amazing time in Hairdressing with the new National Hairdressing Apprenticeship. The aim of the course is to prepare students for an opportunity as an apprentice in the Hairdressing Industry. Students will be given practical training  and confidence in many disciplines, e.g. blow drying, colour application, basic cutting, setting, etc, which they will be required to combine with practical experience of salon work placement to help them secure an Apprenticeship.

Emphasis is placed on all key areas of Hairdressing that will enhance students’ techniques, creative and interpersonal skills. All practical training takes place in our fully equipped modern Hair Salon & Academy.

What You Will Study:

Consult with clients:

• Be able to advise and consult with clients.
• Understand the relevant policies and procedures involved in a consultation.
• Understand the science of the hair, skin, and scalp.

Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp:

• Be able to shampoo and condition the hair and scalp.
• Understand the health and safety policies and procedures involved in shampooing
• Understand the science of shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp
• Gain product knowledge
• Learn shampooing/massage techniques.

Cut ladies hair:

• Be able to cut hair using a variety of cutting techniques.
• Understand the health and safety policies and procedures involved in hair cutting.
• Gain knowledge on influencing factors that may affect a hair cut
• Understand the tools and equipment used for cutting.

Style and finish the hair:

• Gain the skills required to style and finish the hair
• Understand the health and safety policies and procedures involved in styling
• Understand influencing factors that may affect hair styling
• Understand the tools and equipment used for styling

Set and dress hair:

• Gain the skills required to set and dress hair
• Understand the health and safety policies and procedures involved in setting hair
• Understand influencing factors that may affect hair setting
• Know the science of setting hair
• Understand the tools, equipment and techniques involved in setting hair

Colour and lighten hair:

• Gain the skills involved in colouring and lightening hair
• Understand the health and safety involved in hair colouring/chemicals.
• Understand the influencing factors that may affect hair colouring/lightening.
• Know the science of hair colouring/lightening.
• Understand the tools, equipment, products, and techniques used in hair colouring/lightening.

Fulfil reception duties:

• Gain the skills/knowledge to carry out reception duties.

Plait and twist hair:

• Gain the knowledge to be able to plait and twist hair.

Temporarily attach hair to be able to enhance a style:

• Gain the knowledge on how to attach hair to enhance a style.
• Know the health and safety policies and procedures that affect hair attachment and removal.
• Understand the influencing factors that may affect hair attachment and removal.
• Understand the tools, equipment and techniques used in hair attachment and removal.

Learning Outcomes: This is a brilliant beginner’s course to hairdressing that will give you the tools and capabilities to begin work in a hair salon as a creative junior stylist.
